RECEIVER DRIER (74R5405)

This is an air conditioning receiver drier, also called an accumulator or filter-drier, designed for heavy-duty truck HVAC systems. It acts as a temporary storage tank for liquid refrigerant and contains a desiccant bag that absorbs harmful moisture, preventing corrosion and ice blockages inside your A/C system. It also filters out metal particles and debris that can circulate after compressor wear. You typically replace this component any time the A/C system is opened for major repairs (like a compressor replacement) or if the system has been contaminated to restore cooling performance and protect the new compressor.
