Introduced in 2018, the T2E was Kalmar Ottawa's first-generation fully electric terminal tractor, swapping the diesel powertrain for a lithium-ion battery pack and zero-emission electric drive. It used opportunity charging through an onboard inverter-charger that tops up the battery during natural work breaks, and it seeded the company's electric program that grew into the later T2E+ and T2 EV generations.
