It controls the fan speed of the blower motor by providing different resistance levels for each speed setting. When this resistor fails, the blower may only work on certain speeds, usually only high, or stop working altogether, making it impossible to regulate cab temperature or defrost the windshield properly. Replacement restores full multi-speed fan control.
