It engages and disengages the compressor from the engine’s serpentine belt when the A/C is turned on or off. The two-wire coil includes a diode (Metripak plug) to suppress voltage spikes, and it fits T/CCI-style 2-groove compressors. Replace this clutch when the coil fails, the bearing is noisy, or the friction surface is worn, preventing proper compressor operation.
