Launched in March 2019, the cabover Class 8 Lion8 had Quebec's government liquor board, the SAQ (Societe des Alcools du Quebec), as its first customer, lined up to run emission-free booze deliveries; it carried swappable battery packs up to 480 kWh for around 250 miles (400 km) of range from a 350 kW powertrain. Amazon later signed a framework deal for up to 2,500 Lion6 & Lion8 trucks, but Lion Electric halted commercial-truck production in May 2025 to concentrate on school buses.
