It has a 1/2 inch NPT female inlet port and a 1/2 inch NPT male outlet port, allowing compressed air to flow in only one direction. These are commonly installed between air reservoirs, on control (booster) valve lines, or anywhere you need to protect a circuit from backflow. A mechanic would replace this valve when it sticks open, fails to seal, or causes air leaks that affect brake system performance.
