It regulates the air pressure that holds the spring brakes released during normal driving, and automatically applies them when the primary air supply drops below about 55 psi. Typically bracket‑mounted and built with 1/4″ NPT ports, it replaces many common SR‑1 valves including Bendix 286364. If you’re experiencing spring brakes that won’t release, drag, or don’t hold, a faulty pressure regulator like this one is often the cause.
