The torsion bar is a spring-steel rod that twists to provide counterbalance force, making it easier for an operator to flip up the aluminum platform. Over time, torsion bars can weaken or break, causing the platform to feel heavy or not stay in position; replacing the bar restores safe and reliable liftgate operation. It fits the right-hand side of GPTLR-style liftgates with flipover platforms from 2017 onward, but always confirm against your specific unit's serial number.
