It contains eight different DOT placard legends (Flammable Gas, Non-Flammable Gas, Flammable Liquid, Oxidizer, Poison, Radioactive, Corrosive, and Dangerous) plus a blank panel. The split-frame design allows the driver to flip the appropriate panel into view when the load changes, eliminating the need to swap out separate placards. It is typically replaced if the aluminum frame becomes damaged, the legends fade, or pressure fasteners fail.
