It provides both a speedometer signal and an output-shaft speed signal to the engine control module (ECM). When the speedometer becomes erratic, the cruise control drops out, or the ECM logs a speed-sensor fault, this sensor is often the cause. It is typically used on heavy-duty Eaton Fuller manual transmissions and replaces the older K-3455 design.
