It is a straddle-mount design that bolts between the frame rails and supports the equalizer (rocker) beam, which connects the two axles in a tandem setup. This component is replaced when the original hanger is bent, cracked, rusted through, or when rebuilding a worn suspension to restore proper axle alignment and prevent uneven tire wear.
