It merges the service brake and the parking/emergency brake into one heavy-duty component. Pressing the brake pedal sends air pressure to the service side, while the spring side automatically applies the brakes for parking or if air pressure is lost. The Gold Seal design includes a 9-gauge powder-coated steel service housing, a double O-ring centerseal, and a durable rubber diaphragm rated for reliable performance down to -40°F. You typically replace this chamber when it develops air leaks, the power spring weakens, or the push rod is bent or damaged.
