The thermistor sensor detects liquid level by sensing temperature changes; when the liquid covers the thermistor, its resistance drops, triggering an alarm or shut-off. The socket PCB assembly houses the electronic contacts and circuitry that connect the thermistor plug to the vehicle’s monitoring system. It is typically replaced when the socket becomes damaged, corroded, or when the thermistor system gives intermittent or false signals.
