It automatically adjusts the air pressure in the suspension air springs to keep the vehicle at a preset ride height, regardless of load changes. A failing valve can cause uneven ride height, excessive air loss, or premature wear on springs and shocks, so replacement is required when height can’t be maintained or leaks develop.
