It locks up the trailer's brakes whenever the trailer is connected to a loading rack, preventing a dangerous drive-away with the loading arm still attached. The valve can be configured normally open or normally closed and is a standardized safety component required on API bottom-loading adapters and vapor check valves. Replace it when it leaks, sticks, or fails to hold the brakes during loading operations.
