TACH SPEED SENSOR

This is a tachometer speed sensor that reads the rotational speed of an external tone ring on Eaton medium- and heavy-duty transmissions. It sends a pulsed signal to the speedometer and engine/transmission control module so the vehicle can display speed and shift correctly. It is commonly replaced when the speedometer acts erratically, the transmission shifts poorly, or a vehicle speed sensor fault code sets. The sensor is a 2‑prong, external‑tone‑ring design that fits Eaton C, T, W, and K‑series transmissions built between 1995 and 2010.
