FOOT VALVE

This is a WABCO foot-operated air brake valve, commonly called a treadle or foot valve. It controls how much air pressure is sent from the truck’s supply tanks to the brake chambers when you press the brake pedal—the harder you push, the more braking force goes to the wheels. Over time, foot valves can develop internal leaks, poor pedal feel, or sticking, which leads to inconsistent braking or air loss. You typically replace this part when you notice the pedal not returning smoothly, excessive air leakage at the firewall, or if a pressure test shows the valve fails to hold or deliver the correct output pressure.
