This is a Stemco Voyager wheel oil seal, a unitized hub-mounted seal that keeps gear oil inside the wheel hub and away from the brakes. It uses a bonded rubber outside and inside diameter for easier, piloted installation and is designed to handle the heat and movement of heavy-duty truck axles. You replace this seal whenever you're doing a wheel-end service, like a brake job or bearing repack, to prevent oil leaks that can ruin brake shoes and cause wheel-end failures.
This part number is listed for both 12k front axles and Mack 44k drive axles. Verify the specific bearing combination and axle housing type for your application. The Mack drive axle application requires a cast housing and the original equipment bearing spacer.
