It's a unitized nitrile rubber seal with a spring-loaded main lip and patented SURE-LOCK® ribs on the ID and OD to prevent shaft leaks and bore contamination. The seal is designed to retain oil in heavy-duty truck wheel hubs and keep out dirt and water. It's commonly replaced when a wheel seal starts leaking, or during brake or bearing service to prevent hub oil loss and potential bearing failure.
