VALVE

The 279000BXW is a Bendix TP-3 tractor protection valve. It normally mounts at the rear of the truck cab and is controlled by a dash-mounted switch to shut off air supply to the trailer, commonly used when disconnecting a trailer. In an emergency such as a trailer breakaway or a severe air leak in the trailer system, the valve automatically isolates the tractor's air supply to preserve brake pressure. You replace this valve when it leaks, fails to hold pressure, or does not properly redirect air during a disconnect or emergency.
