The brake is forward self-adjusting, which automatically maintains proper shoe-to-drum clearance as the shoes wear, helping keep braking consistent. Typical replacement is needed when brake shoes are worn thin, the electric magnet fails, or the self-adjuster mechanism no longer functions correctly.
