It fits on the wheel end of heavy-duty trucks, sealing the axle shaft to prevent gear oil from leaking out of the hub and keeping dirt and moisture out. You replace it when you notice oil leaks around the wheel, during brake jobs, or as preventative maintenance. Commonly used on Mack drive axles.
