It protects the tractor’s air supply from loss in case of a trailer breakaway or major leak, automatically shutting off the trailer supply while preserving the tractor’s brakes. It connects to the dash-mounted trailer supply valve and the trailer hand control valve, typically having two 1/2-inch NPT ports for trailer service and emergency lines. Replacement is needed when the valve fails to seal, leaks air continuously, or fails to properly modulate pressure to the trailer.
