It measures wheel speed by reading a tone ring inside the hub and sends that data to the ABS module to help prevent wheel lock‑up during hard braking. The sensor mounts directly inside the axle spindle and uses a 3‑pin active connector. It is replaced when a faulty sensor triggers an ABS warning light or irregular braking behavior.
