This is a round trailer kingpin designed to be welded onto a trailer's upper coupler assembly.

It forms the pivot point for a fifth‑wheel hitch, allowing articulation between the tractor and trailer. Kingpins are replaced when they show wear, bending, or damage to ensure safe coupling and to prevent accelerated wear on the fifth wheel plate. This particular pin is sized for a 1/4‑inch thick mounting plate.
