It is designed to be installed from the back side of a panel, providing a flush, threaded anchor point for a mating bolt. The large encapsulated head spreads clamping force to prevent cracking, which makes it the standard fastener for attaching E-track and other hardware to fiberglass reinforced plywood (FRP) trailer walls. These nuts are replaced if the threads strip, the head breaks loose, or when re-sheeting or repairing interior trailer panels.
