It connects the transmission to the driveshaft and allows the driveline length to change as the rear axle moves. The yoke fits a wide range of GM automatic and manual transmissions, including TH350, 700R4, 4L60E, and Powerglide, and uses a 3R series universal joint with inside snap rings. You would replace this yoke when splines are worn, the u-joint is seized, or excessive play causes driveline vibration.
