It acts as the slip member of a driveshaft, allowing length changes as the suspension moves. The shaft is designed to be welded into a 2.500-inch diameter tube with a 0.095-inch wall, and the splined end features a 1.375-inch major diameter with 16 parallel splines that mate with a slip yoke. It is typically replaced when splines wear, become damaged, or when building a custom driveline. Note: This part is obsolete and may be hard to find.
