This is a center strap, also known as a rod guide, for the vertical lock rod on a semi-trailer or container chassis rear door.

It mounts at the midpoint of the door to hold the rod in alignment, preventing it from bowing or rattling during transit. Over time, corrosion or physical damage can cause the guide to fail, making the door difficult to open or close—repair shops often replace it when the rod binds or the door has excessive play. This aftermarket part is an interchangeable equivalent to the Powerbrace P40055 rod guide and is typically hot-dip galvanized for corrosion resistance.
