It features a 5/8-inch diameter pin and 5/8-18 UNF threads that screw onto the chamber push rod. When the brakes are applied, the clevis transfers the force from the brake chamber to the slack adjuster, which rotates the camshaft to engage the brakes. Clevises wear over time, causing brake imbalance; they are replaced during routine brake maintenance or when the pin or threads become damaged.
