ROD BEARING

This is a standard-size connecting rod bearing pair for Detroit Diesel Series 60 (12.7L) and Series 50 (8.5L) engines with the new style closed end connecting rod. The bearing shells sit between the connecting rod and the crankshaft journal, providing a low-friction surface and proper oil clearance. They are replaced during an engine overhaul or when damaged—typically due to oil starvation, contamination, or excessive wear—often indicated by a knocking sound or low oil pressure. Each rod requires one bearing pair; a Series 60 engine uses six pairs total.
