The valve is designed to shear at a predetermined point in a collision, closing off the product flow to meet DOT 49 CFR 178.345-8. It comes with Buna-N/urethane seals (the ‘B’ suffix indicates Buna material; Viton seals available as EV46673ALV). It is typically repaired or replaced when the seals wear out or the shear section is damaged.
