This is a 4-inch aluminum flanged emergency valve (belly valve) designed for cargo tank trailers. It is an air-operated valve with an external air cylinder and a 90-degree elbow outlet, used as a safety shutoff at the bottom of a tanker. The valve incorporates a Teflon (Tef-O-Sil) seat for broad chemical compatibility and a fusible plug for fire safety. It is typically replaced when the valve fails to hold pressure, becomes damaged in an accident, or when the seal material no longer suits the product being transported.
Designed for petroleum products and other compatible liquids. Requires external air supply (1/8-inch NPT port). Not for bottom loading without opening the valve first, per TTMA RP86.
