It captures solid contaminants like sand, rust, and metal particles to protect the water pump, radiator, and engine block from wear and clogging. Unlike many older filters, this version contains no supplemental coolant additives (SCA), so it's correct for modern cooling systems that use pre-charged extended-life coolant. It is a high-capacity, 22-micron filter rated for extended service intervals up to 150,000 miles or one year.
