It provides a pivot point for both ends of the leaf springs and supports them in the middle of the trailer, allowing the suspension to oscillate properly. The equalizer includes a bushing. You replace it when the bushing wears out, the equalizer cracks, or the pivot hole becomes elongated, restoring ride quality and preventing suspension bind.
