It is the 'long' version, roughly 23-7/8 inches in length, with a 1-5/8 inch diameter, 37-spline shaft and a 1-3/8 inch head. The camshaft converts linear push from the brake chamber into the twisting force that spreads the brake shoes against the drum. It is typically replaced when the head or splines are worn, or when upgrading axle components during a brake job.
