FRUEHAUF LONG L/H CAM

This is a left-hand (driver side) S-cam brake camshaft for Fruehauf Pro-Par trailer axles with 16-1/2 inch diameter brakes. The S-cam rotates when the brake chamber push rod moves the slack adjuster, forcing the brake shoes outward against the drum to slow the vehicle. You replace this camshaft when the splines are worn, the head or bearing journals are scored, or the cam profile is flattened, which causes uneven or weak braking. The "Long" designation refers to its longer effective length (21-1/8 inches) needed for certain Pro-Par axle configurations.
