It opens to release air when internal pressure builds up (out-breathing) and allows air to enter when a vacuum forms (in-breathing), preventing tank collapse or rupture during filling, emptying, or temperature changes. The vent mounts externally via a 1.25" NPT male thread and includes an integrated weather hood to shield against rain and snow. Constructed of 316 stainless steel with Viton seals, it is commonly used on chemical totes, tank trailers, and fuel containers.
