It slides inside the tube to provide a rigid support, preventing the tube from collapsing and causing leaks when the fitting is tightened. These inserts are common in truck and trailer air, oil, or fuel systems where polyethylene or aluminum tubing is connected. Replace it whenever a compression fitting is disassembled or if the old insert shows signs of corrosion or damage, as a compromised insert can lead to sudden air or fluid loss.
