6234AL
This is an aluminum inbreathing vent, also known as a dome vent, typically installed on the top of a trailer tanker manhole cover. Its job is to allow air to flow into the tank as liquid is unloaded, preventing a vacuum from forming which could collapse the tank. You replace this vent when it becomes clogged, corroded, or fails to seal, which can lead to tank damage or spillage. It features a 1-5/8-12 thread for mounting and is a common replacement part for Betts manhole assemblies.
Designed for use as a pressure/vacuum relief component on cargo tank manhole covers. Commonly found on Heil and Fruehauf tank trailers based on cross-reference data.
