It has a 3-inch diameter, 16-tooth parallel spline that allows the driveshaft to telescope as the suspension moves. The stub is designed to be welded into a 4.5-inch diameter tube with a 0.134-inch wall. Replace it when the splines are worn, twisted, or damaged, which can cause driveline vibration or failure.
