It slides onto the output shaft of a manual transmission and connects to the driveshaft via a strap-style U‑joint. The yoke is typically replaced when the splines wear out, the yoke body cracks, or the U‑joint bearing bores become damaged, which can cause driveline vibration and imbalance.
