It is a thin, flexible rubber strip about 10 mm wide, sold by the foot, and commonly used to seal engine valve covers, enclosures, cab windows, and covers on Caterpillar machinery. The seal can also serve for sound deadening, vibration damping, or cushioning. Replace it when the old seal becomes cracked, hardened, or fails to provide a tight seal.
