It takes hot coolant from the thermostat housing and routes it to the water bypass circuit on certain Mack truck engines. One end has a 1.63-inch inside diameter and the other is 1.5 inches. It’s replaced when the original molded hose becomes soft, swollen, or cracked, which can cause coolant leaks and overheating.
