The vacuum breaker is a safety vent mounted on DOT407 chemical tank trailers to regulate pressure and vacuum during loading, transport, and unloading. The O-ring forms the seal that prevents leaks through the vent, and it is replaced when it becomes worn, chemically attacked, or during a standard rebuild of the vacuum breaker.
