It uses a wing-style bearing design (HWD) with drilled bolt holes, allowing the joint to be bolted directly to companion flanges on the driveshaft or axle. This U-joint absorbs angular misalignment and transmits torque between driveshaft sections. It is typically replaced when wear causes vibration, clunking, or excessive play in the driveline.
