The sleeve fits into the cylinder head and forms the bore that the fuel injector seals against, separating the fuel and coolant passages. It is commonly replaced when a sleeve develops a crack, becomes pitted, or is disturbed during injector removal, to prevent coolant or fuel leaks and compression loss.
