It attaches to the trip lever of a mechanical operator via a cable. Pulling the remote lever rotates the operator's trip lever and bar assembly to close all open emergency valves at once. It is required by federal regulation (49 CFR 178.345-11) to be located at least 10 feet from the loading/unloading outlet. Replace when the cable binds, levers corrode, or stroke becomes insufficient for reliable valve closure.
