Made from black Buna-N (nitrile) rubber, it provides a fuel-resistant seal between the tank's welded collar and the domed lid. The gasket has an L-shaped cross-section and is secured by a clamp ring. Over time, gaskets may harden, crack or leak, so replacing them ensures a tight, leak-free seal.
