It prevents backflow of dry bulk materials (powders, pellets, etc.) while allowing forward flow, protecting the blower and the product. The valve has a cast aluminum body, a brass flapper that swings open under flow and closes against a metal seat when flow stops or reverses, and 3" female NPT threaded connections. It is commonly replaced when the flapper wears, the seat becomes scored, or the metal-to-metal seal begins to leak.
